2005 Rally Australia

Well what a weekend!

I won't do a full story, but will note a few highlights:

Thursday:
- Seeing the cars at shakedown was great!
- Hearing the cars crash at shakedown was better!
- The service park during shakedown was great. Could get close to the crews and have a little chat.
- Discovered that Ford australia are going S2000 in the near future
- Got a personal tour of Langley Park!
- Took Neals Corolla for a drive
- Helmet got signed by 4 World Champs (Drivers & co-driver) yay

Friday:
- WRC cars at full noise are AWSOME!
- 15 WRCars at full noise is better!
- Took a bunch of photos
- Super Special was relaxing, enjoyed the view from grandstand,
- That Celica of Neals still sounds horney as buggery

Saturday:
- Amazed at how close we could spectate!
- Those jumps are hot! Chris was one of the highest jumpers!! Took some more awsome photos
- Bumped into some Canberra rally folk
- Got excited by more WRCars
- Super Special was again relaxing
- Got a tour of H.Q. They have some very cool toys in there.
- Drank beer with Scott, Dean & a few well known victorian folk.

Sunday:
- Got a tan at serivce park
- Got signatures from drivers on photos i'd taken the days before
- Bumped into more rally folk
- Watched Chris pull back time on the leaders, and got rather excited with his cracking pace
- Watch the finish podium presentation
- Went to pub
- Drank much beer
- Met the World Rally Gang
- Drank more beer
- Tried to learn french
- Chatted to Gigi Galli
- Drank more beer
- Chatted to the McRae's
- Scared the McRaes here
- Drank more beer
- Went to the Sheriden
- Talked to more crews & drivers and continued partying...

Will i do it again next year?

Yep, they have factory outlets just about everywhere.
There is one in Harbour town in Perth. It's at the top end of Hay street. Just near the freeway overpasses.

Put in for leave now.

Get there Monday night prior to the rally. Qantas has a non stop flight to Perth that leaves here at about 6:30 7:00 pm. This leaves a couple of days to sight see visit shops etc.

As next year will be the last, volunteer to do one road closure or spectator point or whatever on your choice of days.

Stay in a caravan park, or get a cheap room that has cooking facilities.

I know we will be venturing west again.

BMSC road trip via a plane.

They still have the shirts if I remember correctly.

Room 821 I think it was.

We should see if Nicky has oimproved his drink handling skills. He was carrying 6 and trying to drink a Bourbon and coke last time I saw him.

Just ply yourself with the free alkeemahol at the volunteers party so you dont have to pay $10 a glass at the Sheraton when you go back.
