Today's Rant
Canberra drivers are all a bunch of cocks. Well at least some of them are. I drive to work up Isabella Drive and then turn left onto the Monary Highway. Sometimes the traffic is bad but this morning the bank up started at the top of the hill before Rose Cottage. I and most of the other people did the right thing and stuck to the left, there's two lanes that bypass the roundabout and then merge onto the Monaro.
Some ****wits however think they're so much more important than us or they're in so much of a hurry that they go towards the roundabout (like they were going right) then keep left and jump the queue 10 or so cars, getting them to work 30 seconds faster. ****holes. I hope they all get nasty sores that won't clear up without a good dose of wire brush and Dettol. ****ing ****s. Assholes. Pricks. If only I was in the Range Rover I could have cut them off in return, given them the finger and yelled a lungful or two of quality abuse. Dicks.
I think I'll go and have a Bex and a lie down now.
T.

You think you got problems Tony - try BRisbane today - massive gridlock cause the government forgot to check the expressway fro years and now there is a crack in it and they have shut it down. I actually got work very early and rang all my staff and told them to stay home.

There are no queues on Isabella or the Monaro at 7.15am Tony.
Approximately once in the last 2 years I have seen the Police there busting people* for exactly that - since the roundabout itself specifically states ‘No left turn’. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop the ‘Special’ people you are referring to, who’s level of self-importance is so far up their **** it makes the rest of us look down right considerate.
* They aren’t really ‘drivers’, just limited ability motor vehicle operators.

Yeh that's a pet hate of mine too and standard for those impatient co cks. Normally they go down to the roundabout and turn left from the turn right only lane. Sometimes there is a copper down there booking them, I feel like pulling over and laughing at them.
But yeh, Canberra drivers are tools. Further up the Monaro hwy near the Qbyn turn-off this morning, the traffic was at a near stand still, banked right up crawling along at 20km/h at 7:45am. Not normal at that time of morning so I thought there must of been an accident or something, but no. There was a copper with a radar checking traffic speed on the south bound side and the co cks travelling north (towards fyshwick) had slowed down to a snails pace. Did they think they were going to get booked for doing the speed limit by a radar pointing the other way over the other side of the hwy? Fuc king dicks should have their licence taken off them for being just plain stupid.

I always make a point to get to work and come home early to avoid the 'special people', but yesterday I drove from Woden to Belconnen at 5:30. I really understand how people can drive for any amount of time without understanding the basic concept of traffic flow.
I have two personal favorites:
Two lanes merge into one, it should be really simple. Just match speed with the other lane and find a gap before you run out of road - how do people always manage to stuff it up?
Drakeford drive - It's an 80 zone, the lights are timed for traffic doing 80, doing 100 between the speed cameras doesn't get you there any faster...

There was actually a cop getting people going North and one catching people going South when I was on my way to work.

Because they're di cks and don't like anyone getting in front of them, they'd rather cause the traffic to come to a halt to let them in, in order to get that one extra car space. It's just like when traffic comes down an on ramp, rather than change lanes to let the traffic in, they'd rather stay in the left lane and close up any gaps to stop people getting in. Of course it doesn't help that the idiots coming down the on ramp and trying to merge with 100km/h traffic at 60 km/h. Why do they think these ramps are so long, to allow for the traffic bank up when some idiot stops at the bottom?

And then of course there is the special "rain" driving skills that Canberra drivers are so proud of. Seems that if you driver faster, leave less stopping room and turn the attitude level up a couple of notches, you get home quicker

Said coppa was there this AM at around 8.20, booking people for this. The trouble was, he decides that to book them he needs to cross three lanes of traffic and get the bookee to follow. Made the traffic three times worse.
I dunno what it was this morning. As soon as the skies opened all the goons thought they'd come out of the woodwork. Made a 25 min run to work into 45 mins.

The game I play is to tempt them with just enough space in front of you and try to make them accelerate into it rather than just mooching out onto the freeway at 60 km/h. The Stirling on ramp Adelaide bound is a classic for this as the slip lane is uphill and you really have to get the hammer down to get up to the speed of the traffic on the freeway

I second everything that everyone has said about Canberra "drivers". They would have to be the most inconsiderate & inept bunch I have come across. I much prefer driving in Sydney than with all the morons around here!
At least with the drought, the really stupid ones haven't been out much lately, they must be lurking indoors just waiting for that funny liquid to start falling from the sky..... ah yeah, rain, that's what it's called, I had nearly forgotten.
Oh, and don't get me started about women dropping their kids off at school.....
