Nominate your favorite Motorsport personality!
Good evening fellow CAMS sufferers,
In the long tradition of.... well.... absolutely no tradition at all, it is my privilege, nay HONOR! to invite people to nominate for the Alliance Motorsport's end of year wrap up, where we will leave no bad joke untyped in a vain attempt to make people laugh because you know, Motorsport is SERIOUS BUSINESS or some utter rubbish like that.
And in that vein, there has to be people from any branch of our sport or in the administration who deserve the unique attention of your staff of judges (Finnigan the drunk Irishman, Stig the bird hating cat, Greenie the Budgie terrorist, Alan the rally dog and a bowl of stuff we forgot to put in the fridge a week ago) who will assess the nomination by the strict criteria (Bribery) and announce the winners in categories that I have no doubt I will make up about 5 minutes before writing.
However in the categories that are already decided we will present for, you may nominate for...
Class of 2007 R-Sova club, for those who have rolled this year
Most amount alcohol drunk on Stage 19
Funniest incident of 2007
Best verbal regurgitation of 2007
Biggest crash 2007
Best run event of 2007
We note that you may make up a category and nominate said person.
How can you nominate? PM me, email of marcus_q_dunn @ msn.com or post here or tell me in person.
Remember, these awards are for taking the p*** out of motorsport, so disparaging, obnoxious, defamatory nominations will be ignored except in the case we can disguise it really well and make a fantastic joke out of it.
Nominations close 17th December and with any ability to avoid incoming mortar rounds from SWRT we should have something.... special for the last Alliance Motorsport Rally Report for the year(*).
(*) How the hell we haven't been sued off the planet from Danni Sordo for defamation of character I have no idea.... Oh wait, you have to HAVE a character to have it defamed. Ahhh well, that explains that then.

(new category)
Best Noncontributory Rallying Community Member:
Ladies and Gentlemen; a warm round of applause for Mr Jon "200kW ATW" Parker...
Jon entered a mere two rounds of the Total Traction Services ACT Regional Rally Series this year in a somewhat lac-lustre defence of his 3 placing in the Gold Cup in 2006.
Those events were of course, Oberon, for which he DNF'd as car Zero. An unhappy day for Mr Parker, and The Eco-point Murrumarang Resort Bay Stages Rally.
Where he was very nearly a nominee in our other new category of Biggest Moment Award where he managed to remove the rear wing of his Evo III Lancer on a passing tree without damage to any part of the car.
Jon was fortunate enough to have one Rally win this year however, but it was only an AMSAG round, so it doesn't count!

Winner of the "Snatching Defeat From The Jaws Of Victory" award should go to Hamilton/Alonso/McLaren.
The problem with being so focussed on beating each other is that they forgot there were other teams racing ...

Yes I did drive it out eventually but it went no further - front suspension was screwed. Peter wins for being headline act on National TV however.
I'll have to sit down and write something comparing the damage and which car ends up being harder to fix after we take to both of them with the gas axe - I'm really surprised how many things broke on my car in the rollover and how I'm still finding bits to replace. Damn it, what's it about Canberra and VR4's over jumps?
The funny thing about it all I guess is that both car's had the same rear subframe / rear end in (swapped it from Peter's VR4 to mine) and after both crashes it emerged unscathed.
Someone remind me why I do this crazy sport again?
