Either a Rover, or one of those Japanese luxury-car-copy things, I think they do one based on a Corolla or something? I can't remember the company name for the life of me either.

The numberplate's the right size for Japan, so I'm going with that.

JohnnoEH wins

That's close enough for me.
The extract below is the Engrish translation of the info on the auction site.
Yes - play your cards right and you could be the proud owner of this fine piece of automotive engineering!

Huzisige industry (Subaru) the typical station wagon, it is introduction of in presser wagon 1500cc Casablanca FAT silver vehicle inspection attaching car. The production quantity excessively many outdated pitch it is the car with the grade which is sold with period limitation. Vehicle inspection and fully to 2010 May being attached, it is the good quality car whose travel distance are little. After the bidding successfully riding immediately, it is possible also to return.

State of car 輌
It is the wrapping, but there is a pickpocket scratch in the bumper front and back. There is no big scratch and the dent which are conspicuous in the body, but being to be the used car there is somewhat a dent pickpocket scratch and the like. As and understood even with the picture, it is the very clean car. Of course there is no restoration history.
However, being to be the secondhand car it is not something which guarantees over detail.

Amazing what can be done with some bolt on panels & poor taste, I'd love to hear Clarksons opinion.

Would be good for a few laughs. There's a few companys doing this sort of thing, James May actually did a road test in the latest season (season 11 episode 6) in a Mitsuoka (not sure on spelling), which is similar except they made a whole car from scratch instead of adapting another, it looks like a mini Rolls, but uglier. They made a ugly-as supercar with a Toyota V6 too. The strange thing is, both cars are actually kinda cool.
