Good Kharma
I was just reading another thread and I noticed one of the community, totally off his own back, offered to help someone out.
It got me to thinking of all the things I love and hate about being a part of what we all do, but about the people mostly. How many Aussie Legends are out there but no one has publicly recognised them recently?
Was wondering what your thoughts are...

Agree completely with Spac. Without Paulie, Mark, Gemma and Simey, Nathan would never get to a rally.
For me personally I have to add Fro and Damo as well, for random help/cheerfulness . Oh, and Heimo for parts (usually from his tardis-like pocket), and Swill, for offering random advice, encouragement and things for loan .

You are right, Brett and the Trend Trailers team are Aussie Legends. It may help that he's our sponsor?
Agreed, Simey for always trying to help everyone, and Jenny Boyd for offering to assist us, and letting us learn from her experience.

Yeah, basically what Jenny said.
Paulie is never too busy/tired/dis-interested to come over and give me a hand before a rally, and he's always so damn enthusiastic - usually it's him that rings me and offers help, rather than me asking him.
I work him like a dog and he never complains.
Also has super-human tolerance to hyped-up Tamsey, which has stopped any number of fist fights, pre-rally.
Mawk is much the same, but also dispenses sage-like advice and rallying philosophy, which usually helps my brain a lot, particularly when I'm all wound up and liable to spear it off in the first stage (Ref: RoC).
Gemma is THE most patient woman in the world - makes Naomi's patience levels look low. Also helps by being the 'grown up' at/before rallies - never makes a fuss, never EVER seems to lose her temper (and christ knows we must push it at times).
Simey does anything for anyone. He seems to be one of those perpetual motion machines. I sometimes wonder how many people have used Simon's help before a rally - at some events it really seems like more than half the cars have been touched by the hand (or welder) of Simon.
H-Man is just a general purpose champ. I mentioned to him that Bede was looking for a trailing arm at the last club meeting. Two days later, Heimo turns up with one, has a chat and leaves - it seems like it's no effort for him, but he's forever bailing people out of the poop at short notice. Or even when they're not in the poop, he's happy to help out.
Swill. Swill's main contribution is that he makes me look fashionable.
Damo... I don't see Damo a real lot, but whenever I do, he's helping someone out. Never makes a song-and-dance out of things, just makes it happen, and grins like an idiot while doing it.
Rod Kilby. Rod did a lot of running around when we were building my struts, and answered a LOT of stupid questions from me. The work he did was top quality, and he turned around and charged me SFA for it.
Thomas and Michael. Yeah, for all the things everyone always say about them.
I could go on for hours.

Spac and Jen... Without them I wouldn't be the mazda man I am today!
But seriously... They've gone well out of their way to help me whenever I've needed it, and then some. And despite the amount of crap Spac gets, he does know a thing or two about the odd rotary and is always willing to share, which I for one am pretty appreciative of.
Oh, and I can't forget Paulie either. He's always happy and keen.

share the love!
In no particular order:
Spac and Jen - always happy to help a clueless newbie with time and tools. And they let me drive teh brown wagon and bloaty mkII.
Fro - not only has Fro guided me step by step through the process of putting together the Touring Assembly (well, he did most of that one) and the tarmac khana for REACT he's also put up with me emailing him every other day with things like "but... what about..."

Gemma, Simon and the Webb family
Gemma - for a non rally chick, she turns up to a lot of rallys - doesn't mind getting under a muddy rally car, is always polite and friendly regardless of the fact that she often gets snapped at by the very competitors she's helping out.
Bernies mum once turned up at a ROC service at close to midnight with enough Spagehti Bol for 20 people and she is always there with something to eat at any other service.
Simon - well Simon is the very essence of the aussie rally legend. He services, he recovers, he builds, he fixes, he tows and he's a good mate to boot.

Krusty the Pete
Absolute legend for allowing me to take a far too casual approach yet still end up with trophies.
Nathan and Jen - the 'spacness' they are well known for.
The rest of the Canberra crew who remember my name even when I get theirs wrong (and still treat me as though I belong).

A belated response to this post.....but better late than never.
I'll start by saying that there really isn’t anyone that I've come across in the rally community (so far!), that I've really though is an absolute tosser. Most people seem genuinely interested and willing to help out. But for me, special thanks would have to go to -
The 180B crew - Jason & Marla, Fro, Bede, Matt T etc. In the past 12 months, each and every one of them has helped me out in some way. All of them have either lent me parts, given me advice on what to/not to do etc, or let pour over their car (or offered the opportunity), pointing out their special mods & 'secrets'. From what I've heard, in any other form of motorsport these guys would be the 'enemy', and would be preciously guarding their setup secrets.
Jenny & Spac - Not the only time that they've helped me out, but both Jen & Spac were invaluable when I was painting my car. From some simple advice as to how to approach it, to inviting me around when (one of ...) Jenny's cars was being painted to see how its done in the flesh, they were great.
Matt D - has endured a thousand and one stupid "what-if" type questions over the past few years, and still continues to pick up the phone when I call!!
Not only has everyone been a massive help, but they are all nice people too.
Legends all round!!!
