New & Old
Hi guys,
A couple of simple questions if I may;
Realistically, how old is too old to start rallying?
I assume 17 is the youngest for forrest rallies, but how young is the youngest competing events?
I live on the Central Coast (NSW), Are there any 'True' rally schools near by that cater for new drivers to rallying?
Mitchell

hi mitchel welcome to the club
how old is to old well thats a hard 1 .i suppose if they have a current drivers licence and can pass the cams olt licence test then watever age
and you can enter motorkhanas as young as 12
and khanacrosses as young as 14
and rallys you would need to alteast hold p1 licence and a cams licence

Probably around 100
Depends on what you want achieve in the sport.
I think Atko was a late starter if I remember correctly.

New and old
Mate... I just want to have a **** load of fun and show the young fella that the old man's still got it.
We both ride dirt bikes at the moment and have a ball, but I want to try something new.
I don't care if everyone else rounds me up, but I'd like to kick some serious family arse and knock him down a peg or two.

being equipped
I suppose there are a million questions that can be asked, but, 1 major 1 is; How many people does it take to compete.
Driver x 1, Navigator x 1, Support Crew x ????????

Depends on the rally,
If there is a central service start and end in the same spot, just need you and a nav (as long as you dont break the car)
But a service person or 2 is handy.
Your best bet is to tag along with a team and see what goes on at a rally,
Ben.

I am just starting to get back into rallying after a break of 30 years. I am 52 I can assure you, there are a lot of people older than me rallying at present.

You are never too old !
Ken Harper is 83 & still competing (and preparing cars). There are plenty of people in the Historic Rally Association in their 60s & 70s - including some ex national and State champions - who are still competing regularly ... in both seats.

Definitely never too old. My Dad is 71 and still drives. In fact he's just gone halves in a new rally car.
As for how many people you need, Matt and I generally only have one person tagging along as service crew. Obviously the more the better, but you'll find there is always someone willing to lend an extra hand if you need it, cause everyone's just soooo nice.

The best thing you can do in the short term is contact the Westlakes Automobile Club through their Secretary, Ben Semple on 0423 170 259.
WAC has its own grounds near Toronto with a magic rallysprint track (3.1k with 31 corners), also motorkhana and khanacross.
