Most viewed in BMSC history?
This thread would have to be the most viewed in BMSC let alone any forum history in such a short amount of time.
What is it about these sort of cars that evokes such reactions and interest?
What should these cars be used for? and in ????
Should they be driven as their original constructors/drivers intended ?, only to have them wrapped around a Buckland Valley pine tree ( Alpine rally mid 80's pic as posted by Paul Williamsom back on page 2 of this).
The Aus Motor Race yearbook from the following year showed it at the same corner with a hefty whack on the front left corner, didn't stop one G. Fury from taking second o/r.
If we look for the Nissan Australia, and Gibson built circuit cars, driven by Fury/Skaife/Seton et al, they sometimes get to come out and play on various circuits - very carefully mind!
At what events and at what level of competitiveness should things like this 120Y and the Bond/Carr BDA's, and any other genuine originals??? that is if there are any left!( the replica Portman 1600 IFK250 sholdn't count) now 20 plus years later, be used in anger?
Should they be preserved? Are they OUR Australian motor SPORT history?
Whoever becomes the next temporary custodian of such weapons of joy will no doubt want to monitor the views of the many fans.
Open for discussion?

It's just a crappy old Datsun. If anyone pays more than $20k for it they are on drugs. It's worth nothing to me. You wouldn't get half that.
Most viewed... yeah right. There is a Subaru RX Turbo for sale on the same page and that has more atm. It's just that the orginal for sale post was weird, and people have watched the thread burn.
Cam Waller sold an ex-Fury VR4 to Scott K and I a few years back. It wasn't all "Fury, ARC winning history etc' talk cause it means nothing to us. It's a VR4, it's worth is in it's potential for future use- not it's past glories.
Maybe we should bang that up for $100K and see if we get a bite.
Jamie Waterhouse has an AMSAG 120Y which would be a like car... what's it worth? It won the AMSAG championship. If I get Ed Ordynski to touch it is it worth more?
I understand that this car has some significance to some people. I get that, but generally it's all a wank. This thread is a wank. What are you selling the piece of 5hit for so we can all pi55 ourselves laughing?
If I cared about history and leaving an automotive legacy blah blah then I'd have talked Dad into keeping the Celica. Can't imagine what that would be worth these days... $500K? I wouldn't have a clue what Carlos Sainz would be willing to offer... but I know Dad used to let us 'paddock bash' it in the backyard for a few minutes if we mowed the lawn.
If we took that car and stuck it in a shed for 15 years he'd call us all sorts of names. If we rolled it into a ball and destroyed it he'd buy us a beer.
I hope this thread gets shut down for 15 years and reopened in the year 2023 when nobody gives a rats about that car.
Anyway... the thread will get going now. Your a chance of most viewed. Watch all the old-timers line up to have a shot. Hey, you guys love this type of stuff. You wanted this... I'm happy to stir you guys into action, get a few personal insults happening and stuff. It's all good.

Um, no it won't.
Thread lockage is everyone's new best friend. Because this is someone trying to sell something, I'm a bit less tolerant of the less-than-good-natured banter than normal.
I'm quite happy for there to be a new thread about cars and history and sentimentality and all that, but in General Discussion (or Idle Torque, I guess), not a for sale thread.
Similarly, I'm more than happy for there to be a new ad placed, but that ad will have to meet the guidelines (see my previous post for a link, if you are otherwise incapable of finding them).
