WTB: LA Lancer Rally Car
Looking for a LA Lancer rally car. In good condition. Car located preferably in the Eastern states. I have a good budget. Looking for something with cams approved rollcage, 4 wheel disks, 1600cc engine and good suspension. If anyone knows of anything around with similiar specs I can be contacted on andrewbobdillon@live.com

I have been in contact with the owner of that car. Just want to know if there is anything else out there.

Hi Andrew
Good luck with your search. I think you will struggle to find anything good out there anymore. Most that are crashed seem to get parted out for the good bits. When I destroyed mine I parted it out and had heaps of calls about the LSD alone.
I last ran an LA in 94 and it was a great little car. Strong as. Weak points though are lack of LSD's or decent ratios, gearbox options, engine power and wheel tyre combos.
LSD's are rare as hens teeth and are worth a fortune. An LSD is a must IMO to get what little power they make useable and a welded diff is for the very brave given the short wheelbase.
Decent front camber change and/or 14's or 15's result in crunched front guards each event.
Engine development is hampered by the camshaft and the one to use is a no.5 and they live in fantasy land with the LSD's.
The 2 to 3 gear change will have you weeping.
I would only get one if it has the good bits first otherwise you will be frustrated with development.
If you really want one I would think it best to try and collect the diff and an engine with a 5 cam and build one from scratch. Gearbox ratios will remain a problem though. Getting parts 15 years ago was a headache and I imagine it hasnt got any easier.
If you need any more info send me a PM.
Good luck

what he said, but id say do it, cams come up and a reasonable one can be ground (you can get a pretty good copy if you have a std one welded) LSDs are about and cost less than a rear for an EVO or Subaru would , not easy to get but they are out there, an alternative would be a much better idea. You could buy my shell to make a start! a clean start can be good rather than buying a tired car and having to start again anyway. lots of rallys were won on 13" wheels and no LSD, what are you after, clubman or Australian Championship? fun or are you betting the sheep station?

Seen on sigma-galant.com this week .... I think it's in Sydney ?
" As the topic says, we have for sale a 1975 LA Lancer rally car for sale.
Has been a rally car for most of its life. 4G32 chain motor with twin Solex carburettors. New steel bolt in roll cage with taxi bar and intrusion bars. Brantz & remote. Many spares including panels, doors, bumpers, wheels/tyres, head, gearbox, rear axle. Can come with enclosed car trailer. Very reasonable $. Located outer north western suburbs. Email or phone 0414 958 898 for more information. "
