I always thought it did. It could also be a BAD THING!!!! for rallying if the law and transport department get involved with this type of situation where they get ammunition to cancel rally registrations for all of us.

The only thing that makes that a rally car is the sticker on the tailgate.
Check out where it looks like the harnesses are mounted.

Qld Transport will be aware aware of this car and I would expect any new owner would not get the rego renewed or transfered unless they get approval from QRAP, you will have to show either that the car has a valid Cams log book and evidence of recent competition, or is needed for another function such as reccie.
The relationship between QT and Qld rally competitors is very very healthy, infact most of us met with them up at IROQ and you can be assured that the days of dodgy rally rego are numbered. Once the new scheme rolls out (its happening slowly but still might be a year or so off) you wont be able to rego your car unless you show a CAMS/AASA (or other sanctioned body) log book with recent event evidence and similar competitors licence.
To think that QT dont watch this site and My105 would be silly

Spot on. In QLD you can't transfer C plate rally rego, so the new owner is in for a nasty surprise when they're not able to rego their now unregistered and inelligble car...

Hi all,
there seems to be some concern over this car for sale.
As I said, I am not the owner but there are some things I can tell you.
The car is a race/rally import and is eligible for that type of registration around the country. It has had QLD rally reg for a number of years now but never got put to "proper" competition as was originally intended. There has been nothing dodgy about this. It was approved at the time, it is not used as a daily driver etc. Yes, QLD transport have been sorting through the rally reg cars (as they should!) and yes, this one, in its current "road" state, will not be re-registered to the current owner or able to be simply transferred. The current owner is into classic rally cars these days and so the WRX is for sale. The new owner will have to prepare it to compete etc and get new rally reg themselves.
It is a very clean car for someone to start a build from and I'm sure the price is quite negotiable. No point having it sit around and rot!

I dont know this car, or it's owner, but I think it would be a good and cheap recce and chase car. Being a hatch it can carry loads of stuff as a chase car, fuel, tools etc.
If I had a GC8 rally car, this would be a perfect and inexpensive way of having running spares etc. It can never be a 'normal' registered car, so let it live it's life doing recce/chase point-duty.

You would struggle to convince me that it would be wise, or even possible, to use a Queensland C-reg car as a recce car / chase car.
