Holley Red Vs Blue as lift pump
Continuing on from out fuel injection problems we are looking to change the lift pump in the Stanza to try and solve the problem. It currently has a Holley blue lift pump on it that we would like to change. We have a couple of Holley reds sitting here and we were hoping to use one in it's place.
I think the red flows slightly less volume and pressure than the blue, but should it still be adequete as a lift pump?

It'll be fine, if its working. Same problems as the blue, but if its a goer it'll do the job no problem.

There the same pump with a different pressure spring or valve or something in them. Both are rubbish

Holley fuel pumps = poo. Leaky out of the box.
Pierburg... quiet, reliable, small, cheap. Not leaky.

the commodore runs fuel injection and we have carter pumps as lift pumps and VL turbo (bosch) as the main pumps. they work fine and pump plenty of fuel no dramas.
one problem with carter pumps i have found is the power wire connectors are a barb style push on fitting and have had one with a tendancy to work its way loose.
brett wright may have some idea with holley issues think he ahd a problem on his car because the pumps were above the tank i believe??

Are these the ones?
http://www.injectacarb.com.au/fuel-pumps-c-33.html
$150 seems pretty reasonable to me. Postage from QLD shouldn't be too bad for something that size either.
Might have to invest in one of them to replace the Facet reserve pump that can't pump enough fuel.

From my fuel injection problems thread;
Quote:
And this is one for all the Holley haters to laugh at... Dad swapped the Holley Blue for the Red (this is on Friday afternoon before heading to Canberra) one out of the RX3; which in turn needed all the fittings moved across and so on (i.e a pain in the arse). After getting it all sorted out we flicked the ignition... hmm... that's a pretty quiet Holley. Hmm... in fact... I don't think that Holley is running at all...
Swapped it again to the Red one off the RX7 and it all came good. Red pump definately seemd to be flowing more fuel than the Blue one we took out.
Now to go and buy a Carter replacement, word on the street is Peirbergs are hard/impossible to find? Jamar?
