Car trailer
I am looking at buying a car trailer with wheel rack. I have a Datsun 1600 but want a long term trailer solution (ie. needs to trailer an evo or wrx in future).
A couple of questions,
- Am I better buying one new or used? Who do you recommend?
- What would I expect to pay for a decent trailer? And what are the options that are "need to have" versus "good to have" (disc brakes, twin axle..)?
Looked at previous posts but nothing covers the broader discussion.
Cheers
A

twin axle, 2 ton, hydraulic override brakes, toolbox and tire rack. A wide, user friendly ramp system. I have some plans that i can email to you if you want to make one. around 1500-2000$ to make, 3000-4000 to buy.

Trendact on this forum is your friend. Email, PM him for trailer advice, if he doesn't respond here in a day or so.
A few recomendations I have:
1. Make the trailer longer than the car. Then when you back it into something, or someone runs up your rear, you hit the trailer and not your rally car.
2. Cover the whole bed of the trailer. When all your wheels are pointing in different directions, you can use a trolley jack to move the car on and off the trailer.
3. Use LED lights. Festoon globes are no good.
4. Jerry can storage on the sides of the trailer. In front and behind the trailer wheels.
5. Winch for when car no go.

PM and email sent.
Just remember that an evo/wrx is not a light car and a larger full floor car carrier will put you over the 2000kg GVM limit. EG: GVM or ATM includes the weight of the trailer as well as the load so add fuel and spare tyreson a rack, full floor, ramps with a wrx on top and you will go over the 2000kg GVM/ATM.

questiion for BiGs or any one else who might know. How do you tie the front of the car down with the tool box there? As Ive been looking at putting a smaller tool box on my trailer but need access to under the front. i use it for more than one car so fixing attachments to the floor section where the wheels go is not real practical.

I use straps, one front, one back. Lugs are welded on to the trailer, but doesnt get in the way of the tool box, they are on the side. We havent put the winch mount on yet, that will prolly get in the way of the toolbox.
