So I've spent a bit of time on the monit today.
Wired in a foot remote, and a stopwatch remote. Aux A and Aux B. Great idea that...
I've pulled out the probe, and it is definately a 2 wire probe.
So,Can I;
A. Just use the two normal sensor wires and forget the blue wire, while also remembering to switch the monit to 12v mode?
or
B. Just buy a brand new 3 wire probe from revo and just chuck it in? Cost????

Ray,
Not 100% how the 2 wire probes work....the only possibility I can see is that the earth is back through the probe mounting onto the car/gearbox?
I would try wiring up the +5V and the sensor pulse connection and see how you go... failing that...
try emailing Monit (see their website) they were very helpful when it came to questions about hooking up the three wire probe (before we bought the Monit...)
Grab some alligator clip test leads on a figure 8 (2-core) cable, saves me heaps of time when trying to figure out the connections and I don't have to fumble through the fire wall or under the dash board the first time....
Regards
Dirk

Other Probe Types:
If you’ve previously had another brand of tripmeter installed in your vehicle, you should be
able to use your existing speed sensor and wiring to drive the Monit directly. In most cases,
this is a very simple installation to perform, but please contact us with details of your
previous setup for detailed instructions.

Email them!
Or I have suitable 3 wire probes here for $100.
BTW 2 wire probes don't earth through the body. They are more like a switch that turns on/off (but not quite)

Man, how good are those Monits!
We used ours for the first time at Blue Range... Forbesy was impressed big time. Easy to use, nice and clear unit.
Would recommend it to anyone...

That must have been the first time he's used some type of new fandangled device on the left hand side. As opposed to just the road book in passed events.

Sorry to drag up an old thread
I have just been wiring up my Monit with Monit wheel probe, and there is a little confusion in the wiring instructions (the wheel probe wiring tells you to use the black wire on the Monit, while the Monit diagram tells you to use the yellow wire).
Email from Monit confirmed that the yellow and black are connected internally, so you can use either of these as your earth, and the other to connect to a 3 wire probe.
Hope that clears it up for others in the same boat.
Cheers
