Folks,
We damaged our very old (from what Terratrip advised >20yrs!) 2 wire Japanese terratrip probe and had to replace it with a 3 wire Japanese Terratrip probe......
We couldn't get the old T404 going again and my driver then upgraded to the Monit.
The wires that came out of the new Terratrip Probe were labelled on the Terratrip box as (I'm not sure of the wire colours) :
To Pin 2 - Sensor pulse (White? )
To Pin 10 - +5V supply (Orange?)
To Pin 11 - Negative Ground (Black?)
The latest Terratrip manual (from their website
www.terratrip.co.uk) states that their newer probe supply voltage is +5V. I measured the voltage coming out of the old T404 and got a similar result (it was around 4.5V)
We connected these to the Monit unit as follows:
PIN2 (T'Trip probe) = BLUE - Speed Signal Input (Monit)
PIN 10 (T'Trip probe) = ORANGE - Sensor +5V Supply (Monit)
PIN 11 (T'Trip probe) = YELLOW - Sensor Ground (Monit)
To my complete and utter surprise, this worked first time!!!
The default setting in the Monit for the probe supply voltage that we got was +5V.
As for the auxiliary inputs, I've connected both of them to momentary type footswitches, one on either side of my codriver footrest (the stopwatch one, see below, is positioned so that I can't accidentally bump it)
Connect the Auxiliary A wire to one side of the footswitch terminal and the other terminal of the footswitch is connected to the car chassis ground). Ditto for the Auxiliary B wire.
Using the "Settings Menu" I've set Auxiliary A to "Clear Interval" which obiously clears the interval distance. Auxiliary B is set to "Stopwatch" which starts and stops the stopwatch.
No issues to date.
Regards
Dirk
