Replacing terratrip bulbs
hi,
ive got an older style terratrrip 202 (the grey stylee one) and one of the backlight bulbs has blown... are they easily fixed by pulling it apart and simply going to Dick Smith or tandy or somthing for a replacement or are they much more evil? if there easy is there a part no. or link that could assist me?
just thought id ask before i dive in
cheers

Just make sure you get the right wattage globe ....
I replaced one in my TT years ago & got one that was too strong .... it started to melt the case halfway through the next event

Why not wire it up with some LED goodness.
Jaycar sell LED strips in a few colours which are more resiliant to vibration.
12 volt friendly straight out of the plastic wrap.

It was about 1990 ... my memory ain't that good !
I am sure it was something really low though - like 0.5W or thereabouts (Note - we are talking about the old-style TTs here too).
The existing globe may have the wattage printed on the glass ?
Drop an email to Terratrip ?

Jaycar - SL2675 Although they are fitted with flying leads that are a bit of a pain.
Dick Smith - P8140 Just the thing, but you might be lucky if they still sell it with the new consumer electronics image. Plus the lifetime can be a bit short.
Ive also used the small globes out of a dashboard. You want the ones that are just shy of 5mm in diameter, but sometimes the leads can be a bit hard to solder to.
Forget LEDS, the terratrip backlight optics aren't up to the job.

The trouble with LEDS in these sorts of applications is that their light output is too focused.
You end up with a really bright spot and everything else is dark.
