Geminis and early Lancers are in the same boat - first oversize puts them over 1600cc.
Most of them still run as P2.
You do the maths....

(With apologies to those Lancers owners who use a 1400 block and standard size 1600cc pistons).

I reckon that P2 and P3 capacity limits should be increased to 1650cc and 2100cc respectively. They'd still be for cars that were originally sold/marketed/ bought and generally thought of as "1600" and "2-litre", but without the quibbling over what happens as a result of normal engine reconditioning.

No exception really. He specifically asked about PRC classes. Historics (and Classics for that matter) are a different category.

I'm with Spac on this one. There are a number of donor cars that are impacted by just a few CC when doing a "normal" rebuild. A slight movement of the class boundaries won't change the world, but will make a fair few people happier.

Just out of interest ... do events in NSW & ACT normally allow HRCars ?

AFAIK most events do allow historics, but I want to go PRC anyway.

Just out of interest, we aren't allowed to flare the original metal guards at all in PRC, are we? IIRC it's only historics/classics where that's allowed? I wouldn't mind rolling mine out a bit because the tyres tend to rub at high lock, but I'm guessing there isn't anything I can do about it?

Most "historics" fit well within the PRC rules, so by default would be allowed. I haven't paid too much attention to events that specifically cater for them through.

No flaring (unless they're allowed in the CAMS copy of the homologation papers), but I think you can push the inner "lip" up out of the way (as long as you don't change the outer shape of the guard).

this is easy, just have a minor accident which requires some panel beating to the guards.
If your not the best panelman(person) and they happen to be a little wider is that really a problem?

Knowing my luck I'd have a 'minor' accident that would be just hard enough to completely warp/destroy the entire body, then no more rally for me...

Anyways, looks like I'll be getting the log book changed soon to say 'P2' and 'L16'. Dunno if I'll be entering the rallysprint in Nabiac yet though, I have my hopes (I want to go to the Gold Coast at the end of the year, I have a feeling it's going to be one or the other).

This works on 1600's - may work the same on stanzas.

Just elongate the hole that mounts the rear of the guard to the sill - elongate it "backwards" towards the rear of the car.

Then pull the bottom of the guard forward a bit and pinch it up tight with the bolt. This pulls a slight "buckle" or "flare" into the guard . Also leaves a slightly larger than normal panel gap between the rear of the guard and the front of the door

I had tyre clearance issues on my tarmac 1600 after lengthening the LCA's, this fixed the problem with a few mm to spare.

I like it! Because I have no experience in panel beating, maybe I'll accidentally stuff up putting the guard back on if I hit something... Dodgy mods FTW!

They cut the inner Plastic gaurd flare instead of rolling it.Geees CAMS were a bunch of " I hate the FIA then were'nt they!

You can do the RX2 Group G trick of 2 guys pulling the guard..

0.6 mm overbore is within F.I.A. Spec and cams manuals Technical specs so regardless of the capacity arrived at it will remain in the Homologated class as long as this is not exceeded.
After all it is in the rulebook so they can't argue otherwise legally or from any other perspective
