Nissan pulsar speedway car

Gday all. Not sure if you race pulsars on a rally track but I will ask anyway

My son has a 83 n12 pulsar that we race in juniors on a speedway track. Its to slow and he is getting whooped buy all the other cars that are running newer cars.

The class restricts them to 1.6lt motors with no more than 100 kilowats.

They cant use rally or sports motors and cant be imported.

We are not allowed to modify engines.

no turbos

Here is my question. What 1.6 nissan motor with close to 100 kilowats would i be able to put into our 83 pulsar without any dramas such as engine mounts drive shafts gear boxes.

Thanks speedway dad.

I didnt think you could change motors from the standard one in the junior class, might be worth checking. It sounds like a class made for corollas with the 4age. Which can be had for a few hundred if you are shop around. I got a complete ae82 with a 4age for $400 (had power steering too! made a great club car). might be easier than trying to make a different motor fit.

yea you can change motors so long as they are the same make.ie ford motor into a ford car. so i can update to the newer motors if it can be done without to much trouble.

Is the rule 100kw flywheel, or at the wheels?

There is a Nissan SR16(insert extra letters here) which is rated something like 130kW at the flywheel and puts out pretty much exactly 100kW at the wheels..

edit - SR16VE..

The later model EXAs apparently ran a CA18DE which produced 91kW.

Edited 'cause I re-read the OP. 1.6 litres eh?

Can you throw the injection from the 1.8 N13 onto the 1.6 version? It's the Holden Camira motor, so there are plenty of them around.

Or a FWD version of the A15 maybe?
