'86 Lancer 1.8T - Any good for a rally project?

Well I've been out of the game for a while (3+ years by my last post), now doing skids on an MTB instead of in a car.

Have some cash sitting round and am thinking about a project car for the shed. Something I can punt round in khana's, hillclimbs and the like, as well as a future build project for rally/targa.

Been checking this out for a while and think the price is pretty sharp (hopefully not advertising a bargain).

I've seen a few of these get around in classic rallies, particularly in NZ, albeit the **** hot 2ltr version and always thought they were pretty cool. I believe Ross Dunkerton punts one around, or has done?

So would this fit the bill as a top project? Anyone know anything about them, has references and can comment whether I should invest the dosh to bring it to Tas?

I haven't seen many of these knocking about....

If you were to buy it, then subsequently stick it off at a hillclimb where would you find panels/glass/bumpers/all those other fiddley pieces? And if you did find replacement bits, it would cost a bit to get them to Tassie I would imagine.

Leave it alone I say!
