AKAIK, yes, that is a straightforward swap. There should be a spacer(s) to offset the diff centre one way or the other, in order to compensate for the larger pinion.

DAT610_WA got a bit of a rap
No spacers as far as I'm aware, the crownwheel's are just different heights to compensate, though you may need to shim the carrier to get the correct mating pattern on the gears.

cheers for the replies, Would I be right to assume that 4.1 into 3.9 housing would not involve any spacers or shimming?

Spacers were only needed for carriers that originally came as standard with 5.1 or 5.3 ratios as those differed from those carriers for say 3.9 or 4.1 etc.
Any gearset swap including taking out say a 3.9 and replacing it with a 3.9 with no actual ratio change will still require setting up the pinion height and crownwheel backlash, this is also required to be checked when simply replacing bearings.
No 2 ratio sets no housings or even bearings to an extent are identical when fitted and always need to be treated as a new install.
Any decent Factory (specifically Factory no Haynes Gregory's etc) Workshop manual will explain how to go about it,though not too many Mechanics can do it successfully these days, due to our wonderfull training standards.
Pretty much the tools required will do many other jobs in a rally car garage so are a sound investment if you are so inclined.
There are also many capable of doing the work to a high standard in most areas of Australia some of whom are on this Forum.
