Evo RS Brake Help
After a long day running around trying to get the rear brakes sorted,
i am still at a loss,
For those few with Evo RS calipers, how close is the banjo bolt from the strut ???
At full droop and new pads the bolt head is 1mm away, there is plenty of room when the car is settled, but how does that help me when the car is in the air or when pads wear
Maybe i have the wrong calipers, was there a difference in calipers between the later models ??
Ben.

??? input Ric
Also tried swapping left and right calipers around, but didnt make a big difference, only about another 1mm gain in clearance,
and as per the photo the nipple is now in the wrong spot facing down at the bottom of the caliper as apposed to the very top which is what i thought would be the ideal location to bleed air out of a brake system ??

If the nipple is at the bottom Ben they must be wrong side, however clearance at full droop is not such an issue as long as you have some.how much do you have at normal ride height?

If i remember correctly the bottom mount of the shock is offset, maybe you have the offset, the wrong way around.

Thanks Craig ill have a look at the offset on the bottom shock mount tonight,
Didnt have any problems at Wakefield with clearance but ill still check it out.
One another note, do Evo 6's run a bias valve of some type ?
and is it different on an RS, or do RS's run different master cylinders, just trying to find out why the rears arnt working very well. Cant be faulty calipers they are brand new ??
Ben.

Aren't working very well ??? what makes you say that ??
Kev Gavin at specialised has a drive over brake checker it will give you exact readings per calliper , per side and diagonal

Well i thought it may have been the pads, but im not so sure,
but basically they didnt even wear in fully after 18 laps around wakefield,
while the fronts got to over 630 degrees and are well and truly bedded in.
Yep im alrealy onto that option, ill head over there next week,
Ben.

1) Yes, the RS has a bias valve. It is mounted on the firewall and can be pulled apart. Once apart remove the guts.
2) Evo 5 & 6 always had the problem of trying to get the rear brake working more. I think it most likely the weight balance of the lancer. Doing the mods to the bias valve should help.

Thread from the dead,
The caliper clearance problem was fixed by mitsubishi for 7,8 and 9
by moving the mount slightly, Homologated for EVO6 use in May 04
newer arm on the left, old on right.
In short get some newer evo arms, i wish i knew this before RRA, Bay & Natcap!! Would have solved some of the brake knockoff the car gets.
