Did you get my PM earlier ?
Ring Andrew Vibert on 03 5823 1911
He knows just about everything there is to know about these jiggers - including what fits with what & what came out of where etc.
He imports Jap engines & gearboxes for a living .... when I was at his workshop before Bega he had several 4AGE's (of various flavours) on the shelf.
Tell him I sent you ....... (shameless plug for my driver's business )

Tort,
How about something like this EP76 Starlet?
And according to the add, it's even in Canberra!

OK, but I'l bet that they're close - Ballast (always a highly reliable source...) reckoned my RX-7 struts were very close to being a direct replacment in his "KB Laser shaped" 323. Smee's spare GT-X strut IS very close to fitting into my RX-7... So I assumed...
Fro, Two words: "Replacment panels". Oh, and another one: "Homologated?!".

Homologated - Yes (Well, according to the FIA pdf's that I downloaded sometime last year, they were homologated at some point in time for Group A, so...)
Replacement Panels - No. But surely you could import them...

Blast from the past:
The wording in the CAMS Manual says that the following are allowed - which presumably inspired this post:
"Toyota Corolla Seca RV, Corolla GT and FXGT Seca; AE101; AE102 (all fitted with 4AGE 20 valve engine)"
Two questions:
1) Does this mean all the cars listed above can fit the 20V engine?
2) WTF is a Corolla GT? I know you can get a AE92 GTi (same as an SX), you can also get a AE86 Sprinter known as a Corolla GT-S...

Mark- I beleive that yes it means you can throw a 20V into a Seca RV- which didn't come factory anywhere...
The FX is the 2 door AE92 SX equivalent (Europe and JDM)
GT looks to be a 2 door AE82.....
that's from a quick google.. so.....

This model was not as successful due to a rising yen and home-market recession, blunting demand.

Good work, guys. Really want to see if there is a legal way to fit the 20V into the AE92 four door version - other than the heavier (I think) Corolla Seca RV that looks pretty damn ugly in my eyes. Damnit, I need a loophole in a loophole...
Oops - maybe Tony has something there. Maybe not. They were the model that many people know as the 'Levins' like Ian Plenderleiths one. Again, pretty heavy.
The 20V is a good thing: variable valve timing, good breathing (at least on the intake valve side), high compression, quad throttle bodies, good power @7200 and torque @ 5200 - 5400, rev happy all on the standard computer for around $1.3K or less.
Meh.

Seca is only 20kg more in the AE90 series, so maybe not such a big deal.
Thread from the dead indeed. So I bought a Camira and I've still got the 4AGE AE82 roadie. Much better to buy pre-built, even with some work to do.

Apparently the QLD boys didn't skimp on anything with their laser - allegedly the build price would have put some 4wd turbos to shame

That pretty much sums it up - chrome moly cage, Proflex suspension, Albins C/R dogbox, LSD, Motec, and lots of other expensive parts, and it was built in a carbon fibre shop so there was more of that than you could believe.

Thread from the dead - again!
Is a 4AGE PRC-legal in a 4-door sedan AE92 (or AE90 or whatever they're called)?
Interestingly, redbook suggests that the sedan is about 30 or 40kg lighter than a 4-door hatch of the same basic spec (manual sedans average out at 1000kg, while manual hatches average out at 1040kg).
Car Prices - Search Car Prices & Values - Red Book
Also, are all AE92-shaped Secas fitted with the 4AGE? Or are some still 4AFE?

They include the engine code in the redbook listings. AFAIK the only cars to have the 4AG stock were the GTi (hatch) and some Seca (liftback). Naturally the CRC regs will make a swap simple..
