TPS

Ok this is an interesting one.
Can anyone offer any CONSTRUCTIVE advise on how to fit a TPS to 48 DCO carbies. I am going to fit quad 48s to the TR7V8 and I need a TPS to run the computer that is running the Spark map.

I'd look at hooking it up to the linkage rather than the carbies. There has to be a point where the single cable splits for both banks, is there somewhere there where you could add a D shaped shaft?

OK - I think the linkage will be 'tricky'.. You might be able to hook up another turnbuckle to a separate link to the TPS.

What's the chunk of aluminium on the end of the right hand carbie? What sort of TPS have you got?

It is a prototype of one idea. Possibly to mount onto end of carb using a grub screw and then mount TPS to this and acctuating off the throtle shaft.

As long as you can attach the plate to the carb, that would work as well..

A small point - the turnbuckles really should connect to the same 'face' of the centre levers, ie either both on the top side or both on the underside. As it is the carbs on the left of photo will open slightly further than those on the right.

Back to your question.
What is the lug'n'hole on the inside of the cable track used for?

If that is unused you could:
1 mount a rotary (sealed) pot shaft down using that nice flat area and two threaded holes on the central pad opposite to the cable entry (it would be a pretty simple Z bracket)
2 fit a lever on pot shaft same length hole to hole as the central rotating assembly is from centre pivot to hole in lug
3 run a link from hole in lug to hole in pot shaft lever (this link doesn't need to be adjustable, just rotate the pot body to suit and lock down)

Also possible would be a bridge over the whole central rotating assembly with a hole directly over the centre pivot. The (sealed) pot would then mount shaft down with either a direct connection to the centre pivot (tricky) or a lever out over the lug'n'hole. A simple smooth pin in either the lever or the lug'n'hole would connect the two together and rotate the pot shaft. Again, just rotate the pot body and lock down for a correct baseline voltage.

If a bridge was used the cable case mount could be incorporated in the bridge too.

Assuming your ECU only wants a varying voltage to tell it where the throttle is you could keep the current down with a 1k Ohm pot.

kayzee got a bit of a rap
Tig the alloy block to the carb body and then use a right hand delco style tps connected to the throttle plate shaft. You might require a longer shaft so as to meet both functions of the shaft. I did a similar thing about 10 years ago using side drafts as throttle bodies.

Cheers

Even less construtive advice - ditch the Webers and fit a set of 50mm DCOE throttle bodies.

I too am impressed

I reckon it would sound awesome. It's not as if you need more power at the rear wheels of the TR.
If it's another wet Coffs, it will be a handful.

I'm sorry - have I missed something? Are you implying there's anything else to rallying? OK, maybe throwing rocks, but I think that the 48's should handle that pretty well too.
