Brakes
The story goes...
I bought a replacement for my 180B road car a few weeks ago and the brake pedal felt terrible (goes almost to the floor before anything happens, does NOT 'pump up' and I can NOT make any of the wheels lock up), so I adjusted the rear drums and bled the system. No improvement. So I decide to rebuild the master cylinder... New seals go in, bleed the system up again, check the rear brake shoes (lots of friction material), check for leaks (none found)... Result was only a marginal improvement in the pedal feel and I still can't make any of the wheels lock up...
So can anyone offer some advice on how to get the brakes to actually work....
And before anyone says anything, yes 180B brakes can be made to actually work, my old 180B brakes worked fine...

I can't really offer anything except back to basics.
Bleed all 4 wheels in this order: rear left, rear right, front left, front right.
Check all over for leaks (all 4 wheels, master cylinder, all lines).
Replace the master cylinder with a known good one (not that you can't rebuild a master cylinder, but hey... you asked).
Other than that, dunno.

Had that problem in the past. Brake booster / vacuum hoses / one-way valve was the culprit.

Is the master cylinder/brakes standard?
The master cylinder wouldn't be too small would it?

Has it got ABS?
Wrong master cylinder or rear slave cylinders?

That's what I told him... OK, I said it was most likely the Booster/Booster diaphragm, but it equates to the same thing.
I've got a Stanza Booster/Master cylinder assembly you could try Bede, to see if it helps. 'Course, I don't know if a Stanza one will fit, but you're welcome to it.

Did you bleed the new master cylinder before you bled the wheels ?

Bede,
I've nothing more to offer in the way of ideas, but I have got a spare original 180B master/booster if you want another set to try.
(which were working fine before they came off a few weeks ago).

Well for anyone that is interested, Matt and Fro get the points, the wrong booster appears to have been fitted by someone...
Damo, I wouldn't mind seeing your original 180B booster to compre it with the one that is on mine.

No problem, I've got 2 180B ones to compare yours to. Give me a yell on 0428 464 510 if you want to pop around, I should be home most of the weekend (Kambah).
