Tapered Seats for Wheel Nuts
Years ago I had some inserts replaced in a Globe mag that had been damaged when the wheel came off. The inserts allowed a tappered wheel nut to be used. The insert was very similar in principle to a valve seat in a engine head. I need to find a supplier of these inserts/seats for some wheels we want to convert to tappered wheel nuts. I've tried a couple of mag wheel repairs with no luck anyone had any experince with these things before. I'd prefer a Sydney supplier as I'm Sydney based.

Rebel Wheels in Wollongong used to sell them (and possibly still do).

Are these to use tapered nuts on a wheel designed for shank nuts? If so, does anyone know of any sources in SEQld?

Yep thats them. We got them from Gary's Motorsport Tyres (Dunlop NSW). Give them a call and they would probabley ship them if needed.
www.garysmotorsporttyres.com.au
Otherwise try Tyre Tech or maybe Alan Stean the Silverstone distributor (Z Car Workshop)

Z Car and Tyretech both don't have them, might contact Gary's Motorsport Tyres... Are these something you can put them in yourself? Or something you have to get someone with the correct tools to put in? I would assume the latter?

Definitely the latter. It's a simple job is you have the machining tools, but damn near impossible otherwise.
