To coupe or not to coupe???
Ok people as some of you are aware YRALLY is getting keen on racing in the Gemini series next year... now that youve all stopped laughing the question at hand is to coupe or not to coupe, bearing in mind that a coupe is 15kgs lighter than the sedan. Will it be a hassle not getting into the back seat area and chucking all the spares into the boot, or do you thing the 4 door is the go? At this stage im thinking coupe....

I like the look of the coupe better but it takes a minimum of 5min to change a tyre on mine because of the hassle getting the wheel out of the back - do they have a boot? or could you put in a false bulkhead ala Phil Donahue's Silvia? Apart from the spare and building the cage when do you have to get in the back?

I prefer 4 doors because it means you have more options for getting out after you roll (guess who's claustrophobic and exceedingly paranoid about being stuck in a car on its side?) and that might be particularly relevant to a big guy like yourself...

Tweety - with all the bars in the back wouldn't it be easier to go through the hole the windscreen left when it got pulled out by its inertia when the car was in its sixth roll?, oh I see your point you don't navigate for Bede anymore (truthfully I see your point, I wouldn't want to be stuck upside down in a crashed car either).

4 doors is more pratical, but the coupe looks heaps better. How about a panel van, I learnt to drive around the forests in one of them when I was 17. Would be something different

the two door thing in a roll isnt an issue so long as you have your fire extinguisher to smash a window to climb out!

Not a issue in a role, when I rolled mt 1600 (2 1/2 times with pike) we just got out where the wind screen used to be. There were to many bars/ seats etc to even think about getting out of the back at anytime
TKM yes I have thought about a pano, maybe in a mini sandman style complete with corvette front end and lame murals...
I think a coupe is looking good if I can get one at the right price....

TKM, I thought the idear of rallying was to finish, not get all cosey in the back of the car during a SS If i'm wrong thought, i'm dumping Brett and finding an attractive driver

Hi
We have a coupe and i think they look a lot better, but then again if you ever drop something in the back you better call in a gymnist cause there aint much room. I say go for the coupe just to be different.
Just so you all know our car is a brown TX coupe that competed for the first time last but has failed to appear as yet this year...something about a little suspension geometry change thanks to a rock.

Coupe!!!!! are nucking futs
Coupe!!!!! are nucking futs
In most other coupes that rally, they are a hatch back Stylee except for Lancers and 180B 2 doors.
Rear panels, glass etc are hard to come by, whereas you can use any door from any T series Gemini on any other.... I still have not been able to find a good clip to use on the rear windows to make them shut properly.
The fuel tank makes up the rear fire wall, and to avoid uneven weight distribution you will need to have the spare tyre lay flat in the middle of the boot floor, or in the rear passenger compartment. It normaly stands up right behind the right rear wheel.
Just go a 4 door, get a lighter navigator,or lose some weight, cause 15 kgs in the scheme of things is not a lot really.....
