Angry Turbo problems (maybe)??

I took my Mazda Familia in for a tune up yesterday, to a referred mechanic from BBMS web site, after I played with the setting in the dash controller, so should of just needed resetting. But when I was picking it up I noticed that the air filter was dripping with oil and oil was coming out of blowoff valve. When I got it home again on the back of a trailer I removed intercooler and found it was full of oil as well. I was told that it had a lot of blowby. Just doesn't add up as it didn't blow smoke or have any trouble like this before I took it in. Any ideas what it would be Turbo or top end ????

Sounds like the seals on your turbo have failed.
Or if you're a bit luckier the oil drain from the turbo to the sump may be blocked/kinked.

worn rings or valve stem seals would not cause oil to leak out of the air filter.

Seems strange to happen so quickly and for the amount of oil pouring out of it. Do the seals in the turbo usually fail that quickly or is it usually a gradual thing?

Don't forget:

A litre in the sump is worth ten on the floor. Or in your case, all through the air intake system...

Check dipstick for excessive oil. It is not usual for the oil to go forward into the aircleaner. Remove engine breather line. Start engine and determine blowby level @ idle.

Fro-Very true that.
