brakes for the lancer
hey, how are yas, im looking for ideas and stuff for my lancers braking system, im looking for somthing to stop the lancer in extreeme situations, im shoehorning in the 4g62b turbo soon and i wanna be able to stop and i was wondering what u guys use for braking?, i rang up dba and explained my situation and they said they have vented drilled n slotted brakes but i will have to upgrade from my cool jellybean mags to faggy 17in rims, no way, the most im gunna put onit is 15in rims, but as is i gotta get more braking power, i have what could almost be reconised as a disc brake lsd (i'll post pictures as soon as my website is up ) so rears cool, front brakes are what i have in mind here, all you guys with LA lancers here what brakes do u use?, u recon i could use the same sort of setup for my road car?, and anyone wanna sell their brake setup?, i got no idea here and i've got no time to do much research, so any help would be heaps appreciated, - cheers,
p.s. daniel, what brakes are you using on your car?, still got the drum rear? , i got a spare lsd if your intersted , cya

Keg - I've got GJ Sigma front calipers front and rear with Scorpion rotors at the rear and GJ Sigma GSR front rotors. Works well but would have FAR to much rear bias for a road car.

PS Already have an LSD

Keg,
I have GH sigma discs/rotors on the front of my LC lancer. On the rear, I have either sigma or scorpion rotors and leone calipers.
I'm in the same boat as you now (except I have done a little research) and the cross drilled stuff is more for show. I would stay away from the cross drilled rotors and just go with slotted cause apparently hairline cracks can form between the holes. If you have decent wheels and ventilation, there's no reason why slotted rotors won't be enough.
Mind you, if you aren't going to be giving your brakes a constant workout, then either would do.

A lot of emphasis is put on brake hardware, which is all good. Then corners are cut when it comes time to pick a pad. Pagid's road pad are meant to be excellent but there are lots of other equivalents availble, although often not availble for your calipers but can be cut down to suit (my commodore calipers have Golf GTI pads) I'm not suggesting full carbon ceramics for the street, but don't put a recap on your buffed simmons, it just can't show its potential worth.
