| Rally Action Returns to Canberra this Weekend |
|
Jul 23, 2008 - 2:46 PM - by Matt
|
The BRM Silverstone Safari - Round 4 of the 2008 PCD Engineering ACT Regional Rally Series - gets underway from 10.30am this Saturday.
The BRM Silverstone Safari, organised by the Light Car Club of Canberra, is the longest NSW Clubman/ACT round for many years, and has attracted plenty of interest, with a total of forty four entries, including NSW and ACT front runners though to first-time gravel rally crews.
Currently leading the prestigious Gold Cup series, the local crew of Raymond Day and Mark Forbes will be pushing hard for outright honours in their Lancer Evo 3.
"We've put a lot of work into the car since Rally of Canberra, and I am confident we can challenge for the event win” explained Raymond Day.
“Autopro ACT has come onboard for the remainder of our 2008 championship season, and we would love to start things off on a high, by taking out the victory this weekend.”
“We have always had the speed, but bad luck has set us back in previous years. This year the fight is on and we won't be backing off until after the final stage.”
Pushing them hard for outright honours will be Peter Taylor and Kim Martin, in their ex-Neal Bates Toyota Corolla Group Np, and brothers Thomas and Michael Barrett, in their Evo 6.
Spectators can view the rally cars prior to the 10.30am start at Deeks Carpark, corner of Cotter Rd and Uriarra Rd, before catching exciting rally action as the first car races through the adjacent Castrol Corner spectator point from 10.25am.

Christmas in July - THANK YOU!
The Inaugural BMSC Christmas in July Fundraiser was, by all accounts, a great night. The Club wanted a mid-year, social get-together – and I think it went down quite well. The venue, music and food were superb.
Major prize winners:
Peter Taylor – lucky door prize (DVD Player)
Sue & Richard Hellyer – 2 nights’ accommodation at the Coachhouse Marina Resort
There are lots of people we need to thank for making the night a success.
Simon and Sue Evans for coming up to be our guest speakers. They were funny and entertaining all night.
The local and National businesses who donated the raffle prizes
Ray Day for organising two table of ten people
Jack Hoogland for supplying the wrapping paper for the raffle prizes.
Russel Winks for supplying the Projector so we could show some rally footage.
Everyone who came last night – it wouldn’t have been a success without you.
Last, but not least, a huge thank you to Cheryl for organising the night. She has worked tirelessly on it for the past six months.
